Opis

Diagnostic features of femur include the very marked fovea ligamenti capitis, the proximo-distally narrow caput femoris and the cranio-caudally very narrow and in caudal view rectangularly-shaped trochanter femoris.

Oligocene of Germany, France, Belgium, Poland, Czech Republic, Switzerland and Iran (Cheneval 1995; Fischer 1983, 1985, 1997, 2003; Peters and Hamedani 2000; Mayr et al. 2002; Gregorová 2006; Mayr 2009c; De Pietri et al. 2010; Mayr and Smith 2012a; Elzanowski et al. 2012). Taxonomic validity of Diomedeoides harmathi Kessler, 2009 from the early Oligocene of Hungary is uncertain (Mayr and Smith 2012a). A dobtful record of the Diomedeoididae from the early Miocene of Germany (Cheneval 1995; Mayr and Smith 2012a).
