Diagnoza
The shell is very flat trochospiral. The dorsal side is sharply edged at the selenizone rounded below. The adapical area is roughly horizontal, later slightly concave. The abapical area is steeply sloping and slightly convex. Numerous weak axial ribs run from the adapical suture to the edge. They are relatively broad and indistinct, strongly prosoclin and somewhat prosocyrt. They are strongest just close to the edge but absent abapically. The shell is covered with relatively strong spiral ribs; about 8-10 on the adapical part of the coil. The abapical area from the edge merges smoothly into the slightly convex base. The umbilicus is large. The base is also covered with spiral ribs. The growth lines are generally prosocline, initially weakly prosocytic, and slightly opisthocytic near the umbilicus. The obliquely oval aperture is wider than high. The columellar area is widened.
Porównanie
Specimens described as Pleurotomaria striata Leckenby, 1859 have a low trochospiral shape with a clear edge between the ad- and abapical parts and a wide selenizone abapical from the edge. Specimens described as Pleurotomaria barottei from France has identical characteristics to the described as Pleurotomaria semiornata Stoliczka in Laube .
