Rodzina Distacodontidae

Opis

Apparatuses with geniculate M elements and all remaining elements coniform, laterally compressed, with sharp edges of the cusp.
Diagnosis. - Apparatuses with geniculate ne elements and all remaining elements laterally compressed, with sharp edges of the cusp.
Remarks. - The most primitive conodonts with geniculate ne elements are classified in the family. Some forms with geniculate elements are included here into the Strachanognathidae on the
basis of overall similarity of elements to more typical members of the family (namely Besselodus, which is closely similar to Dapsilodus) but it is not clear whether these features really resulted from a convergent evolution.
