Siphonodella duplicata

Sugerowana cytacja: Moczyński 2016. Siphonodella duplicata (Branson &Mehl, 1934) sensu auctorum . Ikonoteka (http://ikonoteka.paleo.pan.pl/xwiki/bin/viewrev/Species/Siphonodella+duplicata)

Diagnoza

The ventral portion of the platform in P1 elements distinctly narrowed, forming crests parallel to the carina.

Porównanie

Differes from probably ancestral Pinacognathus sulcatus in a more apparent separation of the ventral portion of the platform in P1 elements from its dorsal part. The minute P2 elements that may be potentially attributed to S. duplicata grade morphologically into juvenile P2 elements of N. purus or N. vogesi. They seem to differ in a triangular gaping of the basal cavity. Perhaps the symmetry transition series of S. duplicata is represented by rare elements of morphologies similar to associated elements of Neopolygnathus purus but more gracile and with shorter processes in the S1 and S2 elements. If their attribution to S. duplicala is correct, the non-platform part of the apparatus in this species would be very gracile and small-sized. This resembles in some respects the apparatus of Vogelgnathus; perhaps in both cases a primitive appearance is related to small element size.
