Porównanie

The P₁ element of this species have a distinctly polygnathid basal cavity, similar to associated and stratigraphically older Pinacognathus fornicatus but not like any species of Siphonodella. The P₂ elements of Elictognathus lacerata Branson & Mehl, 1934 type and the S and M elements of Dinodus type occur consistently together with P₁ elements of this species. Juveniles of D. Iobatus are of the same morphology as some specimens of Pinacognathus fornicatus.
