Diagnoza

Goniatites in which dominant transverse striae in young give place to dominant spirals; transverse elements of shell ornamentation reappear only at diameters greater than 60 mm; suture line with wide lateral lobe and median saddle 50 percent of depth of ventral lobe.

Porównanie

ornament is similar to Goniatites maximus but this species is generally stouter and median saddle of suture line is less elevated.
