Suture of the species remains unknown. Czarnocki classified it in Rectoclymenia together with Nanoclymenia retrusa, although both lack the generically diagnostic ventral keel. He referred to some similarity in conch morphology, especially the shape of internal shell thickenings. In fact, the earliest keeled clymenia in the Ostrówka section, Kiaclymenia polonica (Czarnocki, 1989) occurs immediately above and shows much similarity in conch morphology to N.? intermedia. Another possible affinity of the species is among involute species of Pleuroclymenia.
