Diagnoza disc-shaped shell with narrow umbilicus; ornamented with about 10 constrictions, which run biconvexly with a strong ventrolateral projection; external side is not yet sharpened at 24 mm diameter. Porównanie Most of the Girtyoceras species have a much wider shell than G. brueningianum; G. kazakhorum has a very similar ornamentation, but is broader and narrower umbilicated and develops a keel earlier; G. luscinia, G. meslerianum and G. premeslerianum have a considerably thicker conchs; G. goii and G. margaritatum have a keeled external side at an early stage; G. platytorme, G. moorei and G. edwinae are more widely umbilicated.
