Diagnoza

Shell thick disc-shaped with moderately wide umbilicus that became narrow; ornamentation with toothed growth strips, which are biconvex and prorsiradiate; spiral stripes, which are stronger than the growth lines; in adults rhythmically reinforced, biconvex and rectiradiate, scale-like; about 200 spiral strips; external lobe is 120% of the width of the adventitious lobe;  median saddle is half the height of ventrolateral saddle.

Porównanie

The main difference from the possibly ancestral G. spirifer is the evoluteness of the earliest ontogenetic stages; juveniles develop a prominent ventral lobe in the aperture, a feature that was inherited by later members of the lineage.
